IGANGA PASSES 43 BILLION SHILLINGS BUDGET

Iganga District Local Government has passed a 43 billion shillings budget for the financial year 2021/22.

The outgoing chairperson Patrick Kayemba who presented the final budget document to council, says that over half the funds would go into payment of salaries, gratuity and pensions.

Kayemba, adds that Education sector has been allocated 20.7 billion shillings.

The money includes salaries for teachers 0f 15 billion shillings, capitation grant to secondary and primary schools of 3.3 billion shillings and construction of classrooms at 417, 667,176 shillings among others.

Schools to get new classrooms include Namundudi, Nawanyingi, Ibanda, Buzaya, and Busowobi primary schools.

Kabira primary school will have a pit latrine constricted there. Meanwhile, the district is set to embark on helping farmers start small scale irrigation to boost production.

Shs 1.9 nillion has been appropriated for this activity. Another Shs 1.922 billion has been provided under the Parish Model project.
