AFIC trains Communication Officers in website management

Africa Freedom of Information (AFIC) has organised a one day training workshop for District Communication Officers from eastern region website management and maintainance.

AFIC, has colloborated with National Information Technology Authority NITA-U to help communication managers get abreast with processes of infomation collection and upload on district websites. The training took place at Hotel Continental in Iganga municipality.

Joshua Ekau from NITA-U, says that his organization is manadated under law to design and host websites for all government organizations.

He says that all government organizations have running websites. However, a number of them have stale information.

He wants Communication officers to play their role and provide information about their districts.

"Our national constitution provides that information is a right, therefore, you brake the law if you deny people information", he adds.

Participants were from the districts of Iganga, Jinja, Kamuli, Tororo, Mbale, Pallisa, Budaka, Kumi, Soroti and Jinaj City among others.
